From an Antique Land: Ancient and Modern in the Middle East is a travelogue by Julian Huxley based on his travels in the middle east in 1948. Huxley writes about his observations while putting the places into their historical context. Among the places covered in the book are Byblos, Baalbek, Lebanon, Turkey, Jordan, Petra, Damascus, Syria, Baghdad, Persia and the Nile.
The book is illustrated with 66 black & white as well as colour photographs.
The image on the right is a photograph from the book of an Arab shepherd and his flock at Palmyra.
