The memories and travel account of Jón Ólafsson about his trip to India in the 1620s. Ólafsson was born in Iceland in 1596. He became employed as a gunner in Copenhagen serving Christian IV, and made a trip to India 1622-24 aboard the ship Christianshafn. He visited the Danish colony Tranquebar, and lived and worked for a year in the Dansborg fort, from where he gives an insight into the local life and work at that time.
